Sanger man arrested on gun and drug charges

Austin Alvarez, 20, of Sanger, was arrested in Fresno on Jan. 5 and charged with three felonies related
to possession of a stolen gun and a misdemeanor for drug possession.
When a pickup truck driv- en by Alvarez was stopped for reckless driving at First and Ventura in Fresno a sher- iff's deputy found a loaded, stolen .357 magnum revolver, 11 bindles of honey oil, a
bag of marijuana and am- munition inside the vehicle, according sheriff's office spokesperson Tony Botti.
When the driver pulled over, two passengers got
out of the pickup truck and walked away. The deputy ordered the men back to the vehicle, but they refused and went inside a home.
The deputy detained Alva- rez and called for backup.
Austin Alvarez
The passengers, 26 year old Buenaventura Aranda and 24 year old Roberto Lo- pez of Fresno were arrested
for resisting arrest. They were issued misdemeanor citations and released, said Botti.
Alvarez was booked into the Fresno County Jail. His bail was set at $151,000.

Isaiah Ysais-Maldonado
A church service for Isaiah Ezekiel Ysais-Maldonado of Sanger will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 12 at The Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sanger and a graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. on Jan. 14 at Sanger Cemetery.
Isaiah, 12, died Jan. 1, 2019. He was a student.
Gun and drugs reportedly found in a vehicle driven by Alvarez
He is survived by parents Alvaro Maldonado and wife Mar- garita of Sanger and Ann Marie Ysais of Reedley; brothers Francisco Regalado of Sanger and Jose Santana Maldonado, Thomas Anthony Maldonado, Alvaro Maldonado Jr. and Esekiel Garcia Jr. of Oklahoma; and sisters Alyssa Marie Ysais and Margarita Anna Garcia of Sanger.
Isaiah was preceded in death by his grandfather Jose San- tana; and grandmother Lilly Maldonado.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. on Jan. 12 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sanger.

Myrna Oken
A graveside service for Mrs. Myrna Louise-Nay Oken of Sanger will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Sanger Cemetery. Mrs. Oken, 59, died Jan. 3, 2019. She was involved in ad-
ministration at Wonder Valley Ranch.
She is survived by husband Larry Oken of Sanger; sons
James Nay of Fresno, Andrew Nay of Costa Mesa and Jared Nay of Reedley; daughters Kalene Ramirez of Clovis and Kristi Oken of Los Angeles; brother Martin Foote of Squaw Valley; sister Laura Herron of Madera; and one grandchild.
