As they listened intently, they work on interactive, academic worksheets printed for them. They color code and answer questions about each part of the axial anatomy and the lower and upper appendicular anatomy
as they learned more and more about it.
Another engaging way that Mr. Alvarado teaches the students is by playing a game called, “Mr. Alvarado Says.” In this game, they all stand behind their
chairs and Mr. Alvarado says, “Mr. Alvarado says to touch your patella.” Then, they listen and complete their task. Mr. Alvarado has the students play this game so they can remember where every bone in the body is.
The last two weeks of this module will be spent studying the muscular system. When
the students return from their Christmas Break, they will switch modules and begin coding in their LEGO Robotics class.

GATE has begun and students have separated into modules or groups
where a small group of students from grades three through six gather to soak up information

on different subjects. One of these subjects, they learn in these modules, is the human body systems.
Mr. Alvarado, the teacher,
said that he chose to teach this subject because when he went to college, he enjoyed the subject and thought that the students would enjoy it as much as he did.
“We are learning about the axial anatomy and the lower and upper appendicular anatomy,” Vincent Vargas, a fifth grade student of Mr. Alvarado, explained.
Mr. Alvarado presented slides to show the students what each bone is named and its placement.

• Annual Christmas Caroling to the local convalescent homes, Dec. 22 meeting at St. Catherine's Parking lot 10 a.m. Donations needed: socks, scarfs, gloves, beanies, caps, small throw blankets (new or gently used), gift bags and tissue.
This is a great opportunity for our confirmation kids to earn some service hours. This a a very heartwarming experience. A lot of residents don't get visitors very often. We love seeing their faces light up with so much joy receiving a little gift.
Each bag consists of three items. Example: socks, gloves and scarf. Please help! Drop off your donations at the St. Catherine's office or with Laura Rico or downtown at the Guarantee Real Estate office.
Please join us with some festive hats and attire if able.
