Reedley sweeps NYL baseball, softball crowns
Orange Cove softball earns top seed in Division V
By Jon Earnest
Mid Valley Times
The Reedley High Pirates baseball and softball teams capped off outright champion- ship seasons in their fi- nal year with the North Yosemite League.
The baseball team (23-5 overall) battered Sunnyside by 10-0 and 15-6 scores last week, finishing NYL play at 14-1 to beat out Fresno High (23-4-1) by one game. Senior Will Ga- gnon had 13 strikeouts pitching and knocked in two runs in the first win, while Dustin Wang knocked in seven runs in the two games including five RBI in the 15-6 win.

Dinuba Aqua Emps
reunion set for June 11
at Dinuba High pool
MVT Staff Report
The Dinuba Aqua Emps Swim Club is hosting a reunion din- ner for past and present club members, and also are accepting registra- tion and signups for this year's roster.
The reunion dinner is scheduled for Saturday, June 11, at the Dinuba High School pool follow- ing the conclusion of the Dennis Penner Memori- al Meet. Doors open at 5 p.m., and an all-you-can-
eat dinner is served at 5:30 p.m.
Deadline to purchase tickets for the dinner is Wednesday, June 1. It's the club's main fundrais- er to help operations for the season.
For more information on the Aqua Emps pro- gram and the fundraiser, contact Amanda Ogata at (559) 429-0479.
Interested persons also can sign up by go- ing online to https:// go.teamsnap.com/ forms/311508 .
Josiah Friedenberg had four hits (including two doubles) and scored four runs.
Reedley softball (21- 6-1) finished a perfect 10-0 in league, blast- ing Sunnyside 17-1 and blanking McLane 11-0 with the latter win on Senior Night on May 13. Sophomore Ashley
Chavez drove in four runs while freshman Is- abel Marina-Rodriguez had four hits in the first win, and senior Hannah Medina pitched a one-hit shutout with 10 strike- outs while senior Mary Jane Lucero had three
RBI against McLane. Both teams didn't receive any favors in seeding for the Central Section playoffs. The Pi- rates' boys were seeded eighth in the tough Di- vision II bracket and hosted Central on May 17 (results were unavail- able at press time), and if they won would play
at top seed and unde- feated Kerman High on Thursday, May 19.
The girls, meanwhile, were seeded 10th in Di- vision III and traveled to Tulare for a May 18 game at No. 7 seed Tu- lare Union. If Reedley won, it would likely have to travel to Kern County to play second seeded
Wasco on May 20. Another league cham-
pion, Orange Cove's West Sequoia-winning softball squad, drew the number one seed in Divi- sion IV. That meant the Lady Titans (22-6, 11- 0) would have all home games until a potential section finals game at

For The Times
The Reedley College Tiger men’s golf team returned from San Ja- cinto with a third place finish in the California Community College Athletic Association Men’s Golf state finals on May 16.
They had the best team score out of the four teams in Northern California with a 367- 363-730 but finished 10 strokes behind state champion College of the Canyons and eight shots behind second place Sad- dleback College.
Monterey Peninsula, who won the Nor Cal title last week, finished eighth in the state, 46 shots be-
hind the Tigers. Folsom Lake finished fifth in the state while Sierra Col- lege was seventh.
Cole Obrigewitsch led Reedley with a 73- 71-144, good for a tie for ninth place finish. Obrigewitsch missed the all-state team by one stroke. Emil Eriksson and Patrick Sperling tied for 17th place. Eriksson shot 72-74-146 while Sperling was at 73-73- 146. Jacob Moller and Jack Peters both were at 147 around 40th with Moller shooting a 73-74 while Peters fired a 70- 77. Miguel Villa was next at 77-79-156.
Giacomo Sorrentino of Folsom Lake took in- dividual medalist honors with a 69-70-139.
