The Fresno County Fruit Trail opens tomorrow
The Better Business Bu- reau (BBB) serving Central California and Inland Empire counties is issuing a warning regarding the Chicago online business Cashnowoffer.com.
Cashnowoffer.com adver- tises a program to buy back diabetic test strips from patients, however, when BBB investigated the company,
it found over 200 consum- ers nationwide had never received payment.
To date, Cashnowoffer. com has 254 complaints, 71 negative reviews, and an "F" rating from BBB, which is the lowest possible rating.
There are 7 consumers in our service area who have
been affected.
In their complaints, con-
sumers allege they sent a shipment of diabetic testing strips to the business, with an understanding from the busi- ness that payment would be made within 24 hours. They allege the business failed to provide any payment after shipment was received, and they failed to receive an an- swer from the business after contacting it regarding the status of their payment.
The BBB will continue to monitor complaints, but advises any consumer to be aware of this business and the pattern of consumer al- legations.

The 15th season of the Fresno County Fruit Trail is off to a fruitful start in 2018, said Kristi Johnson of the Fresno County Office of Tour- ism
Farm stands and stores are already featuring fresh picked strawberries, blueber-
ries, blackberries, raspber- ries, cherries, apricots, peaches and nectarines, said Johnson.
On Friday, May 25 at 10 a.m., the sponsors of the award winning trail will
hold an opening ceremony
of the 15th season of fresh fruit, hometown festivals and old-fashioned hospitality for
visitors and locals alike. The opening ceremony
and media reception for the Fruit Trail will be at Simo- nian Farms at 2629 S. Clovis Ave.
The Fruit Trail is similar to a wine trail with stops for visitors to taste and purchase the local produce fresh from the farm, said Johnson.
The Trail is a cooperative public private partnership bringing together Fresno County, partner cities, mem- ber stops, and trail partners.
Fruit Trail maps can be found online, at member stands/stores and at cham- bers of commerce and visitor centers throughout eastern Fresno County.

Sgt. Jack Hernandez
Herald staff report
Former Sanger police ser- geant Jack Hernandez died May 16.
Hernandez served Sanger as a police officer and ser- geant for 25 years, from 1969 to 1994.
A funeral mass will be celebrated for Hernandez at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on O Street in Sanger.
A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Fresno at 264 North Blythe Ave.
A post on the Sanger police Facebook page said, "He passed on to police a new beat in Heaven on May 16, 2018. He had a reputation for being a tough and strong
cop who kept his beat in order. He was also kind and compassionate with those in need, but criminals had a respect and fear of him. The men and women of Sanger PD wish to express our sincerest condolences to the family of Jack (Ascencion) Hernandez."
Another post on the police Facebook page said, "We have seen a tremendous outpour- ing of support and love for
the Hernandez family. We extend our deepest sympathy to them during this difficult time. Jack Hernandez was clearly a special man and police officer. The comments indicate that he made a lasting impact on the lives of many and touched many in special ways."
