Insurance is your first line of defense, which is why you should check your cover- age, and review your policy.

Stolen SUV found burned in county
Staff Report
A sports utility vehicle stolen from an apartment complex lot in east Reedley was found burned in a rural
location in Fresno County. The theft occurred overnight on Aug. 27 in the complex near Dinuba and Orange avenues, accord- ing to Sgt. Bryan Pelayo. The owner said he still pos- sessed the keys to the 2008 black Chevrolet Tahoe but the SUV was missing in the

• Save for an emergency
— According to the Federal Reserve, more than 40 percent of Americans don’t have $400 in savings. It’s important to be financially prepared for any type of disaster. Disasters can be very stressful, but having access to personal, financial, medical and other records is crucial to a quick recovery.
Consider saving money and storing it in an emergen- cy savings account, as well as keeping some cash at home in a safe place. If a disaster strikes, ATMs and credit card machines may stop working, leaving cash as the only option.
• Safely store information — You also should gather all financial and critical personal, household and medical infor- mation and store it in a safe, yet easily accessible place.
It’s important to also ob- tain property, health and life insurance, and review exist- ing policies for the amount and extent of coverage to ensure that what you have in place is enough for your family.
