Brenda Mendoza is the 17-year- old daughter of Socorro and Maria Mendoza.
Over the course of her high school years she has received many academic chevrons, 1st place at the Tech Art Show in Fresno, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She has also been a member of the high school's varsity track and field team for three years and currently a part of the Cheer Team. She is also in the following clubs; Catholics In Action, F.C.A., Big Brothers Big Sisters, Key Club, and Leadership. She also volunteers at the Visalia animal shelter. She has also gained work experience in child care where she helps take care of children in a day care.
Her hobbies include water painting, working with kids, and binge watching Netflix.
Her future goal is to graduate from a university and get a job working in Family Medicine. Once she has attained her career, she would like to start a family
because it would be an honor to be a mother.
She would like to be the next Cinco de Mayo queen because it would be a huge step outside of her comfort zone. It would
allow her to prove to herself that she can do anything she sets her mind on accomplishing and it would also be a great honor to represent her Latina heritage in her community.
Yakaren Estrada is a 16-year- old Junior at Dinuba High School. Her parents are Maria and Ubaldo Estrada.
Yakaren has earned an academic letter, a varsity letter, and three chevrons while attending high school. She has also maintained a 3.8 grade point average throughout her 7th to 11th grade years. She has been a member of the Builders and Key clubs for three years.
These clubs, as well as the Cinco de Mayo pageant, have really helped her be more involved in her community by attending Rotary meetings and volunteering in local community events, such as Relay for Life, and the Dinuba Harvest Fling.
Her school activities include being in soccer for three years, two years of tennis, and six years of choir.
Her hobbies include playing the piano and singing. When she graduates from high school, she wants to attend Fresno State and Major in English and minor in Equine Studies.
Yakaren would like to be Cinco de Mayo queen so that she may be more involved in her community as well as be a role model and encourage girls
to get involved too. She would like to help empower girls to be confident in who they are and to never be afraid to go after what they want.
