Pirates, Apaches shine in shutout wins
Reedley improves to 3-0 by drubbing Roosevelt, 36-0
MVT Staff Report
Reedley High continued to lay waste to its North Yosemite League opposition, limiting the Roosevelt Rough Riders to just 70 total yards in a 36-0 shutout victory April 9 at Sal Gonzalez Field.
Senior Mike Rios scored three touchdowns, two rushing, while Ryan Warkentin returned from injury to add a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Pirates' defense, meanwhile, limited a Roosevelt High team that defeated defending league champion Sunnyside High two weeks ago to just 11 yards rushing on 15 attempts. The Rough Riders (1-1) weren't much more ef- fective through the air, completing 12 passes for 59 yards.

Sanger blanks Edison for first time since 1956
MVT Staff Report
The Sanger High offense stepped up its production last week, and teamed with another strong defensive performance it resulted in a dominat- ing 34-0 football victory over Edison High in County Metro Athletic Con- ference play on April 9 at Sunnyside High Stadium in Fresno.
The Apaches (2-1, 2-0 CMAC) lim- ited Edison (1-1, 1-1) to 135 total yards — just 16 rushing — in posting the school's first shutout of the Tigers in 65 years. The last time Sanger blanked Edison was a 20-0 decision in 1956.
Ashton Rodriguez rushed for 122 yards on 25 carries, scoring on runs of 5 and 2 yards in the first quarter and from 1 yard in the second. In the third quarter, defensive back Alan Pelayo

Dinuba High receiver Bryan Duran turned the corner for a fourth quarter gain at Selma High on April 9. The Emperors lost to the Bears by a 50-7 score, falling to 0-3 on the season.
MVT Staff Report
Dinuba High's night against Selma High started rough from the very first play of its April 9 football game, and went downhill from there.
The Emperors (0-3) gave up an 82-yard touchdown re- turn from Aaron Blancas on the opening kickoff, manag- ing just 10 total yards in a first half that buried them in a 36-0 hole. Dinuba didn't get a first down until early in the fourth quarter, eventually falling to the Bears' 50-7 — the most lopsided score in the 65-year history of the series between the schools.
By the time the Emps
ended a seven-quarter score- less drought on Josiah Reyes' 18-yard TD run early in the fourth, they had been torched for seven touchdowns and most of the Bears' 382 yards of total offense. Selma quar- terback Joey Ramirez threw for 215 yards and three touch- downs — 129 yards of it to Blancas, who with his kick re- turn for a TD racked up more than 200 all-purpose yards while also intercepting a pass. The senior has scored eight touchdowns in three games.
Dinuba closes out its abbre- viated four-game spring season
with a 7 p.m. non-league home game against Bullard High of Fresno on Friday, April 16. The Knights (1-2) opened the sea- son with a win over Selma, but have dropped their last two games to Sanger and San Joa- quin Memorial.
Senior Night, Homecoming for Eagles on Friday
The Immanuel High Eagles play their lone football game of the season Friday evening, April 16, at home against Yo- semite High from Oakhurst.
The 6 p.m. game at County Line Stadium at the Immanuel Sports Complex serves as the school's homecoming contest
