 e changes and dis-
ruptions we have had to live with for the past nine months can be frustrating. You don’t have to look too far to nd something to be upset about but that isn’t all that new when you stop and think about it. People have been frustrated and angry as far back as Cain and life has been challenging since
the beginning. We have always
been given the op- portunity to choose how we react to the di culties and chal- lenges that come with life. As a boy scout,
I was taught to “be prepared” and an- ticipate what is ahead. When planning a trip to the forest, bring a map, compass, survival
supplies and check the weather before leav- ing. We were taught what to do in a natural disaster and where to get help. ere were many other things I learned in scouting as well and we never left on a trip without “be- ing prepared”. at fundamental principle has stayed with me
my entire life and can
be an attitude of pre- paredness that will be helpful when unex- pected events occur.
Now that I have worked in the senior care industry for over 25 years, I am able
to see the bene ts seniors realize who plan ahead and put things in place be- fore they are needed. Seniors who already
have care lined up, even when they do
not need it yet, tend to live healthier and less stressful lives because they do not need to worry about what they will do when their needs change.
Planning for care before you need it can be a gift for your entire family.
