For The Times
For the eighth year in a row, and 11 out of the last 12 years since 2011, the Reedley college men’s golf team has won a con- ference championship.
The Tigers of head coach Scott Stark captured the Big 8 conference championship
on April 27 at Del Monte GC in Monterey. Reedley won by 12 strokes with a 22 Dash over par round of 382, ahead of Fresno City College. The Ti- gers made 15 birdies in post- ing their score on a small, but tricky, layout.
Leading the way was over- all medalist among the 40 competitors and conference
Most Valuable Player Emil Eriksson, who posted a very fine round of 4-under-par 68. Erickson made a Reedley Col- lege Tiger golf school record eight birdies on the day, and shot 34 (-2) on each side (front and back nine) of the course.
In all, five Tigers were se- lected to the all-conference team. Eriksson, from Sweden,
was joined by Cole Obrige- witsch, Jacob Moller, Patrick Sperling and Miguel Villa. In the conference tournament, Moller shot a four-over par round of 76 while Obrige- witsch shot a 78. Jack Peters and Villa both shot 80’s.
The victory left Reedley, winners of six tournaments on the season, with an overall
record of 44-5-1. All but one of those wins came in the Big 8 Conference.
Next up for the Tigers is the Northern California Re- gional on Monday. May 9, at the Old Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey; followed by the State Championships on May 16 at the Soboba Springs Golf Course in San Jacinto.
Sequoia League meet at Sierra Pacific.
