Pastor Bob notes a fresh way small churches can get into television
Sanger
Bob Dickson Jr.
Special to the Herald
As we begin 2018, we need to re-evaluate where we are both in this world and spiritually.
We have done this at the Sanger First Southern Baptist Church. Just recently we began a TV ministry with the LightHouseTV.net and KJEO Channel 32.3 at 10 a.m. Sundays. It’s a fresh look at the way small churches can get into television.
First, let me give you the foundation for what we are doing.
Mathew 28:19-20 “Therefore, go and make people from all nations into disciples, immersing them

in the reality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age.”
How does one church take seriously the command to go into all the world, preach the gospel, baptize those who will consent for Jesus to save them and teach them the world of God? God has given us the technology to do that in a more compete sense than ever before. It’s called the worldwide web. It’s called local, over-the-air TV.
It’s a start. It is inexpensive. We do a 9-minute TV outreach along with numerous others who
are recorded in our lower level, edited and sent to Cocola Broadcasting for airing. Then each program is downloaded to LightHouseTV.net where every program we produce is archived and can be seen in its entirety.
When I came here a year ago, there were many who thought this church was dead.
The Lord has given his report. We choose to believe his report. He has the last word on everything.
In 2018, we have plans to start a new website where we will begin streaming our services live, as well as into all social media networks at the same time. The Lord

Marechal winery continues growth

Hot days, air conditioning and swimming pools exemplify the epitome of summer in the central San Joaquin Valley.
For Jenifer and Josh Marshall, it’s a hectic — maybe the busiest — time of year. That’s because they are facilitating business for their 700 acres that includes vineyards and other fruit trees.
The Marshalls aren’t new to business. They ship their fruit across the the continent — Canada included — for Eastern Juice, a fruit distribution company for juices and other products.
But they are newer entrepreneurs in the winery game with Maréchal Vineyards. The industry has become more prominent in the Valley throughout the past decade.
“The vineyards here have been developed for 12 years,” Jenifer Marshall said. “They are originally for our Eastern Juice program. We were never thinking wine. It was just a hobby.”
Now it’s more than a hobby for the Marshalls. It’s a passion. And Maréchal Vineyards is their focus.
Josh is the mastermind behind the wine. He started experimenting with his own grapes in 2006. Toward the end of each picking season, he kept a few boxes to
10 New Year’s Resolutions from the Wisest Man Who Ever Lived — Part 3
In these articles we determined that New Year’s resolutions basically fall into three categories.
They deal with: 1. Things to make us look better and live longer. 2. Things to make us have more. 3. Things that will help us to get along with everyone. I call them perpetuity, prosperity and peace. I believe we can find an answer in God’s word for any question or situation of life if we would just look.
So, what is there in God’s word about New Year’s resolutions? Well, they are not called New Year’s

much time to perfect. And the wine is worth the wait.
From Malvasia Bianco to Chardonnay, the Marshalls sell handfuls of different wines. Some are rich, packed with flavor and pair well with supper. Others are more enjoyable during different seasons.
“I tell everybody that all of my white wines are for sitting by the pool and drinking,” Josh Marshall said. “They are not big and heavy. They are light and refreshing.”
What is certain is that people savor nearly everything that comes out of the family’s wine laboratory — where all of it is made. The garage-like building holds barrels filled with award-winning wines at cool temperatures.
The Marshalls entered certain flavors in wine- tasting competitions across the state. And every time they entered a different wine, they were successful.
“We have never entered a wine that didn’t win anything,” Josh Marshall said. “So that was kind of my record.”
Although they have entered fewer contests as of late, the Marshalls' reputation in the Valley is still growing. They provide wine for hot spots around the area, such as Rev’s, a restaurant in Clovis, and Pinot’s Palette, in Fresno where locals attend art

to be a successful farmer. Verses 13-20 talk about those characteristics of wisdom which deal with knowledge, learning, information, intelligence, data, facts, intellect and

Verses 21-24 talk about
those characteristics of wisdom which deal with perception, discernment, judgment, reason, insight, prudence, discretion and just plain ol’ common sense.

But producing wine was
initially difficult. It was a trial-and-error process.
“We studied a lot and tried again,” Josh Marshall said. “It took us until 2008 to get something that was good.”
Since then, the family expanded its variety. Josh continues to educate
resolutions. But I don’t think you could do better than Proverbs Chapter 3. Read the following excerpts and see the benefits of adopting this set of New Year’s resolutions set forth here in this third chapter.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. (Perpetuity, prosperity) ... you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man ... He will direct your paths ... will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones ...your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine ... you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble ... you will not be afraid; when you lie

“Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”
What is wisdom? Wisdom has two groups of characteristics: information and know-how.
Think about the analogy of a farmer with a tractor in a field. He must have the right equipment and materials — gas etc. But he still must know what to do and what not to do with it—howtouseitandhow not to use it, when to use it and when not to use it and where to use it and where nottouseit—ifheisgoing
The first one was: Resolution 1: LET LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS NEVER LEAVE YOU.
Last week we explored Resolutions 2-5: TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
Verses 5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Or will direct your paths.)”
Here is Resolution 6: SEARCH DILIGENTLY FOR WISDOM AND FIND IT.

“Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
