New members of the Sanger firefighters' family welcomed
Dick Sheppard/Sanger Herald
Sanger's newest firefighter/paramedic Joshua Brockett with wife Evie and daughters Vivian and Presly. Joshua was sworn in last Friday.
Just part of a day's work ...
"It's all part of a day's work," said police chief Silver Rodriguez. "It's all part of a day's work," echoed fire chief Greg Tarascou. They were talking about what police officers Sergio Arguello and Joshua Calderon and firefight- ers Michael Pallas and Kacey King recently did to save the lives of two brothers trapped in compact car in a canal, on its roof and partially submerged in four feet of water. The training room at the fire department was at first filled with police officers and firefighters, there to watch Claudia Salinas from Senator Andy Vidak's office present Senate Certificates of Recognition to the four lifesavers. Then, as though to emphasize the theme "It's all part of a day's work," firefighters - including Pallas and King - began to respond to bells and whistles and hurry out of the room to speed off on fire trucks and an ambulance. Tarascou accepted the certificates on behalf of his firefighters who were involved in just another day's work of saving someone's life.
