Fire chief Greg Tarascou says the early Sun- day morning fire at Harvey's Sales and Leasing in the 900 block of Academy was "suspicious."
The interior of the office building was de- stroyed, said Tarascou.
"There was a fire in the office and a vehicle was stolen on the same day and as I understand it there were four other cars stolen from the lot since then," said Tarascou.
"We are working with the Sanger police depart- ment in a joint investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire as well as finding out moreaboutthepropertytheft. Wehavesome evidence we’ve collected that is being sent to a Department of Justice (DOJ) lab for processing so we may not have an exact cause and origin for a little while."
Herald reporter Juanita Adame, who was on the scene, reported on the Herald Facebook page that a passerby called 911 after seeing smoke coming from inside the small building located behind Academy Hardware.
Units from Kingsburg Fire, Selma Fire, and Calfire were also on scene, Adame reported.
The reporter can be contacted by email at sangerherald@gmail.com or by phone at the Herald during office hours at (559) 875-2511.
