Sanger police are still investigating an apparent kidnapping attempt that oc- curred on Oct. 16 at Lincoln Elementary School.

Caltrans will continue re- pairs to 59 drainage culverts and more than 40 lane miles of State Route 168 in eastern Fresno County due to funds generated by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
“It’s our job to make
sure that California’s roads perform well in all seasons,” said Caltrans Director Laurie Berman. “SB 1 is making this drainage project possible now, to reduce the threat of flooding as we transition into fall and winter.”
The number of vehicles that travel this winding, two-lane stretch of road on
a daily basis varies from about 1,000 at Kaiser Pass, to approximately 9,000 in the foothills near Auberry Road.
Freight trucks make up about 10 percent of the total traffic volume, the majority of which have more than five

axles, that contribute to wear and tear on the roadway.
“The spike in seasonal travel to recreational loca- tions on State Route 168 makes this project invalu- able,” said Caltrans district director Sharri Bender Ehlert.
“Residents, local busi- nesses and tourists rely heavily on this road and the improvements we’re making will benefit the community for years to come.”
The nearly $26 million project was awarded to Cal Valley Construction Inc., which will focus on refur- bishing drainage culverts and making long-lasting pavement repairs from just east of Prather to Hunting- ton Lake. Work began in mid-October, and continues Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic controls in effect.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for delays of up to 15 minutes, obey flagging
personnel, and to be work zone alert.
The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and other construction-related issues.
More information and updates on projects can be found at http://www.dot. ca.gov/d6/projects/ or on Twitter via @CaltransDist6.
SB1 provides an ongoing funding increase of approxi- mately $1.8 billion annually for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the state highway system. SB 1 funds will enable Caltrans to fix more than 17,000 lane miles of pavement, 500 bridges and 55,000 culverts by 2027.
Caltrans is committed to conducting its business in a fully transparent manner and detailing its progress to the public. For complete details on SB 1, visit http://www. rebuildingca.ca.gov/.
