The Reedley Police Department continues to grow with the addition of
a new police officer, Tyson Loewen, and new records specialist, Kristina Olsen. It actually was the second swearing in for Loewen, who had been ceremonially sworn in a day earlier on April 30 in Fresno. That ceremony was conducted at Clovis Community Medical Center so Ruben Perez, Loewen’s grandfather and a longtime Reedley police officer, could view the ceremony. Perez was hospitalized, and would have been unable to witness the swearing in.
ABOVE: Ruthie Greenwood, Reedley deputy city clerk, administered the oath to Kristina Olsen, left, new records specialist for the Reedley PD, and new police Officer Tyson Loewen. The ceremony took place May 1 in the Reedley City Council Chambers.
LEFT: Kristina Olsen shared a hug with her mother, Heather Peters, after Peters presented Olsen with her badge. Erin Mariucci, Loewen’s girlfriend of six years, pinned on his badge after the swearing in.

“For Citizens Park, we know how well-used that park is. We are also looking for fund- ing sources, particularly the walking path but also just to upgrade the facilities, and there are worse parks here than Citizens Park. So we want to make sure we can spread the wealth and fix our community.”
Paul Melikian, assistant city manager, also went over topics like the city budget, tax revenue, and who the of- ficials in city hall are, as well as what roles they perform.
