The victim of a deadly shooting Oct. 15 in Parlier has been identified as 23 year old Felix Ybarra-Rodriguez of Fresno.
Shortly after midnight, Parlier Police offi- cers responded to a call of shots fired at Bella Vista Apartments, located at 8500 Bella Vista Avenue. Officers found Ybarra-Rodriguez with a gunshot wound.
He was transported to Community Re- gional Medical Center in Fresno, where he later died.
Parlier Police requested sheriff’s homi- cide detectives respond to the scene to take over the investigation.

Young was booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of attempted rob- bery and was in the process of being charged with two additional counts of robbery.

and another man were outside on the patio when they noticed a man get out of a car and walk toward them. The men exchanged some words and then the man pointed a gun at the two men and fired multiple shots. Ybarra-Rodriguez was the only person struck by bullets.
A motive for the shooting has not been de- termined. Detectives are looking at the pos- sibility of it being gang-related.

Again this year, the Big Fresno Fair continued several programs that recognize the achievements of the commu- nity’s brightest scholars, agri- cultural leaders and talented individuals. This year’s 8th Annual 4.0 & Above Program presented by Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Friends of the Big Fresno Fair, EECU, Toyota and iHeart Media, gave away a record
number of 32 scholarships to Fresno County students.
All students grades 8-12 whose academic performance has earned them a 4.0 or above grade point average as of their 2018 spring semester were invited to the fair for free on Opening Day on Oct. 3, There, they had the opportunity to win scholarships totaling $87,000.
Prizes included six lap- tops, three Apple iPads, six $100 gift cards, as well as a new Toyota Corolla that was available exclusively to stu- dents in grades 9 to 12. Em- miterio Boyer, San Joaquin Memorial High School sopho- more, was the winner of the new car in a drawing.
Fair officials said planning is already underway for the 2019 Big Fresno Fair, which will run Oct. 2-14 and mark the fair’s 136th year.
