The Alta District Historical Society be holding their annual Fundraiser Auction on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The event will be held in the pation of the Alta District Historical Society Museum. This year a couple of new changes will make the event a truly entertaining evening. A Country Store, featuring desserts and homemade items, will be featured at Saturday's event.
Additionally, musical entertainment will be provided by Ron Jefferson and Brad McCord.
Auction items will include antiques, special evenings out and specialty items, like an original neon Dinuba Lanes clock.
Also, the Dinuba High School FFA students will be serving a deep-pit BBQ dinner.
Tickets for the auction are $30 per person.

Friends of Dinuba Library to hold annual book drawing

The Friends of the Dinuba Library will be holding five drawings at the end of this month for free books.
Throughout the month of October, those who check out a book from the Dinuba Branch Library will be eligible for the drawing. For each visit that a book is checked out one ticket will be entered for a chance to be one of the winners.
The categories for the drawings are: Pre-Kindergarten/ Kindergarten, Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-12 and Adult.
The lucky winners' names will be drawn on Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at the Dinuba Branch Library, in honor of National Friends of the Library Week (Oct. 21-27). Presenting the awards on Nov. 1 will be this year's newly crowned Miss Dinuba, Audrey Menard.

District Doings
• The Alta District Historical Society will be hosting their Annual Harvest Dinner and Auction on Saturday, October 6. The event will consist of a dinner, served from 5:30 to 7 p.m., a live and silent auction and a Country Store.
Gates open at 5 p.m. It will be held at 289 South K Street in Dinuba. For more informaiton, call 591-2144.
• Reedley College will be having a Human Library interactive event on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 10am-noon in the quad area outside of the cafeteria. The Human Library will feature human "books" available for "checkout."
Attendees or "readers" get to learn about different cultures, lifestyles, religions, and more and can expect to have respectful conversations that not only answer difficult questions, but also challenge stereotypes and prejudices. This event is free and open to the community. It is a very visual event.
• The Alta District Hospital will be having their annual reunion on Saturday, October 13, at the Alta District Historical Society patio. The potluck luncheon will be held from 11 a.m to 1:3o p.m.

• The Western Regional Vietnam Memorial Wall Committee will be hosting a Fundraiser Steak Dinner on Sunday, October 14, at the Dinuba Memorial Hall, located at 249 South Alta Avenue in Dinuba.
Dinner will consist of steak, salad, baked patato, green beans and a beverage. The cost is $20 per plate.
All proceeds will go to the Western Regional Vietnam Memorial Wall. For more informaiton, call Ruth Padilla at 696-0614.
• Dinuba High School will be holding their Fourth Annual Fall Fiesta Fundraiser on Saturday, October 20. The event will be held at 41404 Road 70 in Dinuba and will begin at 5 p.m.

• The Western Regional Vietnam Wall Committee will be presenting a South Pacific Luau on Sunday, October 21, at the Dinuba Memorial Hall.

•Palm United Methodist Church of Dinuba will hold its annual Oriental Take-Out Dinner on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 3:00- 6:00 PM.
The church is located at 438 West Tulare Street, corner of "P" Street, in Dinuba. Menu will include Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, Cabbage & Ramen Salad, Chow Mein, Steamed Rice and Cookies.
Tickets cost $12.00 and may be purchased from church membersoratthedoor. Boutiqueitemswillalsobeavailablefor purchase. Proceeds will go to support various mission projects.
• The Tulare County Child Abuse Prevention Council will be presenting their 13th Annual Cynthia Lockart Mummery Conference on Thursday, November 8, at the Visalia Convention Center. This year's thems is Building Trauma-Informed Schools and Communities.
Keynote Speaker will be Jim Sporleder, a retired high school principal from Wala Wala, Washington. He was was featured in the documentary "Paper Tigers" and is the author of "The Trauma- Informed School."
