HOW DO TEENS GET PRESCRIPTION AND O-T-C MEDICINES TO ABUSE
“These findings should serve as a wake-up call to parents that their teen is facing a drug
landscape that did not exist when they were teens. The abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs has taken root among America’s teens and the behavior is not registering with parents. Unless we all take action, it is a problem that will only get worse.”

If someone says, “Want to get high?” You can say, “No. I don’t do drugs.” It helps to practice saying no. Practice with a friend, family member or in front of a mirror. Your are special. Don’t let drugs get in the way of the things that are important to you. Spend time with your family or friends, playing sports, doing school work, or
other activities. You’ll be glad you did.
There are better Things to do than Let Drugs get in the way!
Every day in the United States, 2,500 youth (12 to 17) abuse a prescription pain reliever for the first time. Almost 50% of teens believe that prescription drugs are safer than illegal street drugs.
