THE GAZETTE QARANC 3
Chairman’s Message
Welcome to the Autumn Edition of ‘The Gazette’ which we hope continues to give you the news and updates you enjoy. For those who have access to our website www.qarancassociation.org.uk we are trying to minimise the duplication of articles. However, as some of our members have no access to the Internet some articles may be published in both ‘The Gazette’ and on our website.
The Annual General Meeting and Annual Reunion held at Victory Services Club in May went well and was attendedbyinexcessof100members.Thosemembers who attended may have diarised the date for next year for the Reunion Lunch, but members are advised that both the date and the venue has been changed. The Victory Services Club are undergoing essential maintenance and upgrading work and they are unable to provide the services we require. Accordingly, the Trustees have agreed to use the Union Jack Club for the event next year which will be held on 7 May 2016. This venue provides easy access and is being hired at a reasonable cost. Please book early as places are limited.
At the Annual General Meeting it was advised the Accounts published in the Spring/Summer 2015 Edition were pre-audit and contained some minor discrepancies from the audited and subsequently approved version. Therefore, a corrected version is included in this Gazette for your information. The Trustees have also agreed to change the Auditors and thank Mr Paul Chamberlain for his support over recent years.
By way of an update, at the time of this document going to press, a new Constitution has been submitted to the Charity Commission for approval and to establish the Association as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This will afford the Charity and Trustees greater protection and will involve a change to our Charity Number. It is anticipated that the new CIO will be launched prior to the end of the year and all members will be notified.
We are thinking ahead to 2017 which is, of course, the 70th Anniversary of the formation of the QARANC Association. The Trustees have established Sub Committees to organise both a celebratory event and to hopefully design and procure some memorabilia. Should any member have any suggestions please do pass them to the General Secretary. It is important that we mark this significant milestone appropriately to reflect and celebrate the Association and the ‘Friendship’ it provides.
To update those who have no internet access I have taken the liberty of incorporating the report presented at the AGM in May which I believe records the work of the Trustees and Association activity. We are keen to receive feedback from any member so do feel free to let the General Secretary know of any issues you may have or ideas you may wish to present to the Trustees for their consideration.
To conclude, I hope you enjoy this edition of ‘The Gazette’ and look forward to meeting members over the coming months.

Well since the last Gazette quite a bit has been happening as you will see by the articles published.
Sierra Leone, a successful and humbling experience held our attention for a year and congratulations to Lt Col Alison on her OBE, She was in my opinion, I must say a great CO, I loved the opportunity to deploy as the SNO, although I had my concerns, will I do a good job, will the team have a good deployment, will I be supportive enough, can I cut it (I am sure everyone especially if deploying in a key role has all of those concerns) I think I did OK and I also think that may well be the last deployment for me... Cpl Anna Cross is doing well back at work and even considering becoming a regular, hopefully she will be submitting an article for the Gazette of her experience from the other side. She was great along with all of the team a pleasure to work with them all.
I hope you all continue to enjoy reading the gazette and thank you to everyone who submits articles without
you all there would be no Gazette and no record of what QA’s are doing across the bazars. Please encourage your colleagues past and present to contribute to the Gazette and just a little request from me (I probably say every time) please do not embed your pictures we have a great publisher that will do all the fancy stuff.
May I make a couple of apologies firstly to Maj Kerrie Pealin she submitted a very thought provoking article PST and me that I am sure has given people an insight and will enable people to hopefully pick up on signs early, credit was not given to her, I am really sorry Kerrie.
There was a picture in Matrons blog (MRS Tidworth) that incorrectly labelled, it was in fact SSgt Joliffe that received the LS&GC not SSgt Cashon. Apologies to SSgt Joliffe.
