Community Fun Carrot
Competition
A community fun carrot growing competition has been a popular part of the Jersey Association of the National Vegetable Society’s annual programme of events for a number of years.
This year was no exception with over 40 sets of carrots being brought for exhibition and judging, many grown by children.
Showing the grown-ups their growing skills, the overall winners were seven year-old Lexi Cameron and her sister Chloe (5), who placed second.
All those who had initially registered for the competition in March
were provided with identical 30-litre
containers in which to grow their carrots, along with stump-rooted Chantanay red Core 2 seed supplied by Marshalls. Marshalls also sponsored the prizes for winners.
