No-nonsense veg gardening
- DVD
In this useful DVD Christine Walkden presents advice
for novice vegetable growers
in her usual friendly, practical and
inspiring manner. Christine takes viewers through the steps of soil preparation, sowing, planting out and growing on; giving many useful tips that may not occur to a gardener new to vegetable growing or have been forgotten or ignored by more experienced growers.
I particularly like the fact that she explained the logic behind some of the gardening
practices such as the need for a fine tilth when direct sowing seeds and the “duck” or the “gardeners” shuffle. Christine encourages gardeners to keep trying even when things fail and assures them that year on year their plot and harvest will improve. If people follow Christine’s advice then I have no doubt that they will be soon be admiring rows of healthy vegetables and eating some tasty produce.
Christine’s obvious love of gardening and
the thrill she still experiences, after a 40 year career, at the magic of seed germination gives this practical and encouraging DVD an added
level of interest. The DVD is available from ebay.
