Representatives from the municipality and the regional water authorities attended the ceremony. This project has been chosen as an example for how to promote a participative culture by engaging citizens in community life, and so enhancing the quality and intensity of citizens’ participation in local affairs.
International Diplomas
Have you got a project on your site that deserves International recognition?
The International Of ce awards diplomas each year to allotment sites that meet the criteria for projects in ecological gardening, innovative activities, social activities, and the Golden Rose for outstanding activity in the allotment and leisure garden movement. Here are the criteria for the awards:
Diplomas for ecological gardening
• A commitment to practice gardening that is respectful of the environment contained either in the Society constitution or other documents.
• Ecological educational opportunities and/or projects offered on the site.
• A signi cant percentage of the leisure gardeners effectively apply ecological criteria.
Diplomas for innovative activities
• Activities can be in the following areas: social, natural and environment protection, sustainable development, in relation to the neighbouring communities, concerning the democratic administration of the association, public relations etc.
• The project should be current and have measurable effects on allotment gardening, the society or a part of society.
Diplomas for social activities
• The activities can be as far reaching and varied as possible, including activities with elderly people, children, disabled, unemployed people, immigrants etc and have a measurable and visible effect.
Golden Rose Medal
• This medal is awarded to public of cials and institutions that either, on national or international level, have accomplished an outstanding activity for the allotment and leisure garden movement.
If you think that your site has a project that deserves recognition please let your Regional Representative know. You will need to submit a paper containing a description of the project, including its aims, objectives and achievements, along with images illustrating the project.
Ideally projects need to be submitted before the 15th February each year.
The International Of ce has produced a League Table and we are lagging behind – and not because we do not have deserving projects, so let go of that British modesty and submit your projects for an award!

4. Mix the eggs and milk, grate the cheese, peel the onions and
grate them too.
5. Mix the egg, milk, cheese and onion, and add salt and pepper.
6. Grease a cake tin and ll with half of the Chinese
broccoli. Top it with 1/3 of the egg mixture. Add on top the carrots and then another 1/3 of the egg mixture. Add the rest of the broccoli and top it with the last 1/3 of egg mixture.
7. On top, place some baking paper and slightly press the vegetables. Cook it in a hot water bath in an oven preheated to 180° for 60 minutes.
This vegetable terrine can be served warm with meat or sh or cold as a light starter.
