We welcome the following officers into the Regiment, commissioned on 13th December 2013:
2Lt Tom Jamieson: Tom comes from Surrey and was educated at St George’s College but elected not to go to university. Since leaving school in 2008 he has mainly worked for a letting agency and then an IT recruitment company both in Egham. He did a spell in the TA in London and spent three months in 2011 working as
a ranch hand in Texas. His main passion is cycle road racing and he has also cycled from London to Edinburgh to see the Fringe, followed the mountain routes of the Tour of Italy and cycled from Le Havre to Santander for fun. He is also a keen triathlete and represented the Academy in the Yateley 10k road race. Tom has joined the 2nd Battalion.
2Lt Josh Leccia: Josh comes from Hereford and is from good regimental stock. His father and uncle were both in The Light Infantry – although we will hardly mention his brother who is a gunner! Josh gained a rugby scholarship to Monmouth School
and then studied Economics at Loughborough where he gained a 2:1. His main passion is rugby having captained the school 1st XV, played for the Welsh U19 Barbarians’ team (Crawshays) at the age of 16 and played for Hereford in the national rugby league during his Gap Year. He continued to play rugby at Loughborough playing for the university in both XVs and VIIs. He is also a keen musician teaching himself the guitar (amongst other instruments) and playing in a number of bands. He was a Cadet Corporal at Sandhurst. Josh joined the 1st Battalion.
2Lt Rob Prince: Rob comes from Cambridgeshire and was educated at Hills Road VI Form College and he studied History and Political Science at Birmingham gaining a 2:1. His grandfather was originally in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps. He enjoys rowing (where he rowed for the university squad), sailing, judo and skiing and has travelled extensively in southern Spain and Morocco, India and across the USA. He was CSM of his ACF unit, attended the TA Commissioning Course before deploying on Op OLYMPICS
as a platoon commander and was attached to the 2RIFLES and 3SCOTS security force at Earls Court. At Sandhurst he was a JUO and he won the prestigious Binos at the Platoon Commanders Battle Course. Rob joined the 2nd Battalion.
2Lt Josh Miers: Josh comes from North Yorkshire and was educated at Yarm School and Birmingham where he also studied History and Political Science alongside Rob Prince. He also gained a 2:1. In his final three years at school he was in the British Cycling Olympic talent team competing at national level. On his Gap Year he worked for the charity Christians in Sport coaching sport and teaching RE in schools, universities and the local community. He took up road cycling again at university where he was club captain and was heavily and successfully, involved in Triathlon. He has also represented Yorkshire in Athletics and Cross Country, worked for
a charity in Ghana, and cycled from Zagreb to London in 17 days visiting four stages of the Tour de France. He is an avid skier and, in 2011, did an internship with Grant Thornton in the Fraud Insolvency department in London. Josh joined the 4th Battalion.
2Lt Simon Reed Simon comes from Taunton where his father is Archdeacon. He was educated at Queens College Taunton and York University where he gained a 2:1 in History. At school he diversified widely being involved in drama, music and playing four
sports for the school and continued this at university where he represented his College in 14 sports as well as rowing for the 1st VIII university boat and captaining the university 3rd XV. On his Gap Year, he spent 7 months travelling including 6 weeks working for
a monastic brotherhood in India, three weeks trekking to Everest base camp and then travelling to the Far East and Canada. Post university he worked for two years for a Business Consultancy in Oxford as a client manager. Simon joined the 1st Battalion.

2Lt Chris Cathcart: Despite being born in a small village in Rimini, Italy, Chris comes from Warwickshire and was educated at Warwick School and Bath where he gained a 2:2 in Politics and Economics. Chris’ main sport has always been rugby and he was in the Daily Mail cup winning team at school and has represented the RMAS
in the Army Premiership as well as being a qualified coach. He also enjoys climbing, travelling and diving. He was on holiday in Sri Lanka during the Boxing Day Tsunami which was obviously a life changing experience. Chris joins the 4th Battalion.
2Lt James Eaves: James comes from Wimbledon and was educated at KCS Wimbledon and Nottingham where he gained
a 2:2 in Geography and at Exeter where he gained a PGCE qualification having previously spent his Gap Year teaching at a prep school in Somerset and nearly 4 months trekking coast to coast in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Having gained the top award from his Masters course, he spent two years teaching Geography at the Kings School, Worcester. He passed the TA Commissioning Course and joined the London Scottish. He is a keen sportsman and is a qualified coach in cricket, hockey and rugby. James was a JUO at Sandhurst and runner up for the Sword of Honour. He joins the 3rd Battalion.
2Lt Nathan Flye: Nathan comes from Wales but has lived around Bristol for most of his life. He was educated at Katherine Lady Berkeley’s school and Cardiff where he gained a 2:2 in Economics. He was in the UOTC for two years before joining 3 R WELSH as a Private for his final year. After university, he worked for Santander for two years. His main passion is rugby and he has played for a number of local, school, university and representative sides and
is also a qualified rugby coach. He had led a climbing expedition with some school friends and completed the 190 km GR20 route in Corsica with three university friends. Nathan joins the 5th Battalion
2Lt Tom Jelly: Tom comes from Sussex and was educated at Westminster School and Bristol where he gained a 2:1 in History. He then went on to Kings College London to gain a Masters in Security and Development. He spent his summers travelling around Syria and Turkey and working on the vendange in Burgundy. He took a year out between Bristol and KCL travelling overland for eight months from Cairo to Cape Town. He has trekked in Nepal and watched cricket in India just prior to starting Sandhurst. He enjoys playing football (university captain), cricket and cross country. Tom joins the 5th Battalion.
2Lt Nick Reynolds: Nick is from Somerset and was educated at Broadoak Community school in Weston. When the appeal of delivering pizzas paled after two years, he joined the RIFLES as a soldier and gained best recruit at Catterick in August 2012
