Lucton School Cadet Company (CCF)
It was a very special year for our Contingent as one of our senior cadets was made the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet
in a year packed with celebrations, ceremonies and anniversaries. Colour Serjeant Liberty Perry has been supporting Lady Darnley since March and has already covered the award of a British Empire Medal Ceremony, the re-badging of a Rifles platoon and Armed Forces Day. We wish C/Sjt Liberty Perry all the very best in her remaining tenure.
The First Aid Teams have continued to train hard and have been returning silverware to our cabinets at every opportunity. The cadets particularly enjoyed the practical element of the various first aid scenarios, which have included using real people who feign anything from major bleeding to asthma attacks and unconsciousness. Learning First Aid helps with team building, confidence and communication skills. Following the successful first place position for CCF and overall winners at the Brigade Regional Competition (Team members: Cpl McNab, L/Cpls Anna Paterson, Ellie-Mae Davies Bufton and Jessica Bemand), members of our team

team spirit, opportunities for leadership and simply having fun with friends. All of our cadets thoroughly enjoyed this package, which set the tone for the next few years of cadet life.
Our field craft weekends have proved to be incredibly popular with the cadets and have been important milestones in our training schedule. A growing emphasis
on the cadets taking the initiative and re-investing their skills at the junior levels has seen a new energy spread across the year groups. The culmination this year was our Annual Camp, organised by 145 (S) Brigade at Longmoor Camp. With a record number of cadets from Lucton, we were hosted well and had a wide range
of activities during the week
exercise scenario and the cadets were really focused on preparing improvised shelters, fire and traps for
the forces we were supporting. Next year we look forward to a coastal location with
some extra Adventure Training.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award was
supported by the CCF Staff and we have had a bumper year. Already we have completed the assessment for the Bronze Award and look forward to the Silver assessment being conducted in the early part of September. The DofE also lends itself to sharing skills with the BTEC in Public Services at Level 2 and 3 that we host at the School, such as land navigation, teamwork and expedition preparation. Additionally, with Methods of Instruction and interview techniques covered at Level 2, we have had some really hard work put in by the cadets and we look forward to the final results in September.
