The RHLI Band
The RHLI Band had a very exciting year in 2013-2014. In the Fall, our Dance Band ensemble participated in two high profile performances within the community, and our full Concert Band performed well through many events including the Change of Regimental Sergeant-Major parade in September 2013, and the annual RHLI Band Christmas Concert in December 2013. Ceremonial Guard
The Riley’s ceremonial guard, dressed
in 1860’s uniforms and equipped with period weapons from our founding era has been representing the Regiment proudly in many community and social events throughout the year. Significant engagements include the Canadian International Military Tattoo and “Fortissimo”, an annual military band and
ceremonial guard display on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The RHLI “13th Bn” Ceremonial Guard is composed of serving soldiers who are adding this particular
contribution to their service to the Regiment and the community.
Band completed
a very successful
inspection and was
ranked among the
best Reserve Bands
in the country. The
RHLI Band also
performed in many other settings in the spring throughout the city of Hamilton, and wrapped up the year in July 2014 with an excellent performance in Kingston at the Annual Fort Henry Tattoo.
In April 2014 the Band was ranked among the best Reserve Bands in the country.
Gary McQueen took time from his holidays in England to pay a visit to the RIFLES RHQ, 7 RIFLES Bn HQ and F Company, and
6 RIFLES Bn HQ. He was also fortunate enough to provide a copy of the latest edition of the RHLI’s Regimental history for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s library. The Rileys commit to maintaining this strong connection between our two Regiments.
