Meritorious Award for Police Dog Venus

 During a career spanning 2009 to 2016, 11-year-old PD Venus began her career at 18-months-old, when she underwent a fourteen-week intensive course to locate explosives and firearms. She worked alongside Senior Police Constable Nigel Allsopp the pair stayed together throughout her illustrious career. During her service, PD Venus completed over 300 successful searches, removing dangerous weapons and explosive devices from the streets of Queensland. She successfully located over 100 weapons such as

PD Venus skills and devotion to duty have undeniably made Queensland safer for the public and Police Officers working the streets. Venus worked included VIP searches for Heads of State, visiting Royalty and International visiting Presidents. She
also searched at numerous high-profile sporting events major music festivals. In 2017 Venus received the Commissioners certificate of Merit for her outstanding contributions. This included exceptional operations during the G20 Summit. Venus retired in August 2017; She displayed extraordinary contributions to society far
above and beyond normal companionship. She should be formally recognised and honoured.
Nomination of PD Venus 269 Queensland Police Service, Australia for the PDSA Order of Merit for outstanding devotion to duty while working as Detection Dog.
