vourites such as ‘We’ll Meet Again’ to such rousing classics as ‘Rule Britannia’, we sang and waved our Union Jacks with gusto. Most heartening was a Lance Guard marching out to the front of stage as the concert reached its finale to present lances during ‘Land of Hope and Glory.’
With the final notes of the national anthem fading, the Lance Guard marched off to enthusiastic applause. They then re-ap- peared in the foyer – determined to attract final donations – and, thanks to their efforts during the show, I’m positive they dou- bled their donations in the after-show collections!
Overall, the concert raised approximately £17,000 for Marie Cu- rie’s North Yorkshire operation – a fantastic total to a truly wor- thy cause. We were all humbled by the stories of bravery and sac- rifice from both patients looked after by Marie Curie and the staff that help them. It was pleasure to be able to support such a cause and we hope to assist in whichever way we can in the future.
