 Thinking. Communicating. Manoeuvring. Fighting. Robust- ness. These were the five themes upon which we as a Squad- ron focused in 2019. Whatever the technological advancements or the shifting sands of the threat environment, our strength as reconnaissance soldiers comes from being better than anyone else in those basic areas. Our aim as A Squadron was to live up to our billing as the premier Squadron in the premier Regiment by training hard, seeking to learn, to be constantly looking for improvement in those five simple areas – and to have a good laugh whilst doing so.. able to train hard, we undoubtedly learned a lot, we improved immeasurably, and we may have had a laugh or two in good measure.
The focus on individual training in early 2019 was essential fol- lowing the hiatus in the training progress of many due to deploy- ment on Operation TOSCA 28. Quarter one was the opportunity for individuals to gain the qualifications needed to show pro- fessional competence and to help prepare them for promotion and fresh challenges.
