on ComBat and iHub core skills. Sgt Williams had the privilege to be a group lead and missed out by the smallest of margins of gaining top section.
Continuing to capitalise on opportunity, the Detachment sent a team on Exercise WHITE LION, the AGC’s skiing champion- ships in Austria. LCpl Emblin achieved her Ski Foundation 1 and Pte Langhorn brought home a medal at the junior hill sla- lom winning the bronze. Further into the year the Detachment entered a Military Skills and March and Shoot team into the AGC Soldiers Triple Crown Competition. Members of the De- tachment also attended The National Memorial Arboretum an- nual commemoration service to commemorate those members of the Corps who serve, have served and have gone before us.
It has not just been working hard however, cohesion has been an important aspect to continue to grow the bonds within the Detachment with the junior members organising various social events around the local area, sampling the fine eatery’s York- shire has to offer and including highlights such as ‘Zorb’ football which quickly descended into chaos.
Continuing the sporting theme, we have had plenty of action out of uniform. Cpl Dixon continues her football prowess; not being

content with playing up to Inter-Services level, she is also highly congratulated in achieving a place in Middlesbrough Women’s Football Club as a striker. Cpl Langton and LCpls Horry and Emblin have represented the Regiment in Orienteering, British Army Warrior Fitness (Power Lifting) and cross country. Cpl Richardson has also spent time away organising, supporting and coaching as part of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team; including mentoring the first double above-the-knee amputee snowboarder which has been said to be almost impossible to instruct.
We have sadly had to say goodbye to several of our team over the year with Lt Woodward, WO2 Thornton and Cpl Grimshaw de- parting on assignment and Cpl Marie on discharge and we wish them all the best in the future. More positively we welcomed SSgt Waltham on promotion and Ptes Langhorn and Gaha who are straight from Phase 2 training at Worthy Down.
Looking forward to the future, we hope to continue our success- es and are excited to see what 2020 has to offer. We will no doubt have our hands full but, as always, will be committed to ensuring administrative support to all the Royal Lancers’ efforts. Animo et Fide.
