 The Quartermaster Department
The Quartermaster Department has continued to support the Regiment as it has transitioned at pace from its 2018 com- mitment on Operation TOSCA, back into our core role as an Armoured Cavalry Regiment, well-versed in both mounted and dismounted close combat.
The Department’s standing tasks remain ever present, such as maintaining the inventory on charge to the Regiment, liaising with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and contractors who maintain the infrastructure and the myriad Health and Safety agencies who assist the department in ensuring Cambrai Lines is a safe place to both live and work. However, as in previ- ous years, it’s been in support of the Squadrons and the Regiment as a collective where the Quartermaster’s Department has been busiest. The first half of the year saw the department stretched to its limits as it sustained a multitude of squadron training across the UK and Germany. The second half of the year con- tained a big-ticket event, namely the regimental firing period at Castlemartin Ranges which saw the department take over Mer- rion camp and provide real life support to the Regiment for the 3-week period. In addition to supporting regimental activity, the stalwart members of the troop have gone from strength to strength with the department completing a variety of trade and role specific courses. These range from the PNCO Cadre to the All Arms Quartermaster course.
As ever, there have been personnel changes within the depart- ment. In the summer saw Capt Bennison assume the post of Quartermaster from Capt Jones, who left regimental duty for a posting as a company Second in Command at the Army Founda- tion Collage Harrogate. WO2 Hobson arrived from B Squadron to take over as the RQMS from WO2 Hollis, which allowed Mr Hollis to post out on his well-deserved promotion. We have also said farewell to LCpl Brooks who has left the Army and starts his new career as a truck mechanic for Stagecoach in early 2020. We thank those who have left the department for their drive and tireless service; they have without doubt left the department in a better condition than that in which they found it. We wish them all the best in the future. 2019 has also seen members of the department welcome new additions to their families: WO2 Hollis welcomed the arrival of his son Arthur, Sgt Greenwood welcomed the arrival of his daughter Lily and LCpl Swordy wel- comed the arrival of his son Jesse.
2020 will see more of the same for the Quartermaster’s Depart- ment as we establish a forward footprint to sustain the Regiment through Exercise MONS LANCER in Germany and beyond.

The Quartermaster Technical Department
During 2019, the Quartermaster Technical Department has had several personality changes with WO2 Weaver coming in as the new RQMS(T), WO1 Pook is congratulated on his pro- motion and moves off to take on the wider role in RHQ as RSM, and Sgt Smith also moved off to take up his new post as Com- mand Troop Sergeant closely followed by his trusty side kick Cpl Hill. Congratulations to Cpl Howlett and LCpl Bragg on their recent promotions too. Pte Jones has now left for 6 Regi- ment RLC in Dishforth on promotion (congratulations) and we welcome Pte Henderson as his replacement. The remainder of department has not changed, not to say there are many of us left in here as LCpl Morgan departed for civilian street as a PAX insurance salesman. Finally, Sergeant Bailey welcomed the birth of his daughter, Elizabeth Rose, in April 2019. The newly formed ‘dream team’ has seen action supporting the Regiment from deployments on overseas exercises in Finland, numerous SET Tasks and squadron exercises on Salisbury Plain to the regi- mental gunnery camp in Castlemartin, and culminating in SSgt Nunn and Cpl Gooding deploying to Germany in support of the breakout of CVR(T) from SOF Germany to the Land Training Fleet Sennelager.
