 OPERATION CLEAN UP
'C' Company cadets clean up in Balby
By Lt Adam Fidment
Saturday 7th October saw adult volunteers and cadets from C Company work alongside Doncaster Sea Cadets, 219 (South Yorkshire) Transport Sqn, 150 Transport Regiment RLC and 103 (Doncaster) Sqn RAFC together with members of staff from Doncaster Council taking part in The Community Joint Venture Project; "Operation Clean Up", which was organised by 219 Squadron and Doncaster Council.
Fuelled by drinks and pastries supplied by Morrisons Supermarket, those in attendance were split into four groups, given equipment and then dispersed to their destinations around the local community in Balby to make things look a little tidier.
With litter picks in hand, the groups took to the streets. This was a fantastic opportunity to not only look after a place that is so special to all involved but begin to forge relationships and work together. Thankfully the weather kindly held and a couple of hours, and many bags later, all areas were cleared - an amazing job done by all and a brilliant initiative for Cadets to take part in and support their local community.

Christmas Tree Festival 2023
By SSI Rebecca Montgomery
For the past three years, Army Cadets have taken part in the festival at Sheffield Cathedral in a bid to raise funds for local good causes.
This year was no exception. Armed with donated decorations, quick work was made to decorate the tree, partnered with the important poster identifying the sponsoring organisation.
“This festival is a great way of bringing
together companies and community groups
to work towards a common goal”, said SSI
Rebecca Montgomery, Detachment Commander Endcliffe Hall Detachment.
After a staggering 5039 votes being received, The Childrens Hospital Charity and Henderson’s Relish were voted the peoples’ favourite charity and corporate trees. The £250 cash prize was donated to the S6 Foodbank. More than £1600 was raised by visitors to the festival.
  SOUTH YORKSHIRE YOUNG LEADERS COMPETITION
By SSI Rebecca Montgomery
Cadets from Endcliffe Hall and Rotherham Detachments fought off competition from the Air, Sea, Fire, Police and St John Cadets, through a series of logic, communications, teamwork and observations tests.
First started in 2012, the competition was held between the Army, Fire and Police Cadets at the LifeWise Centre in Hellaby. There was a natural
break when COVID hit, so it is encouraging
to see that more organisations want to be involved.
The LifeWise Centre was developed by South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and
is an education centre for youth groups and schools.
“The Fire Cadets came first with the Army
Cadets a very close second, but it really was down to a couple of points”, said SI Dacia Hearne, Greenhill Detachment and Vocational Qualifications Officer for D Company.
