By Sophie Whisson
To prepare for the return of face-to-face activities, albeit under covid-safe guidelines
for the moment, RAF Air Cadets Staff have
been given permission to resume training. This training or, in many cases refresher training, will enable the full range of cadet activities to be run in the coming year.
During a recent training weekend at CTC Driffield, the Wing staff participated in training courses including fieldcraft, activity first aid, eDofE, and Heartstart. The weather was kind, which allowed most of the activities to take place outdoors and ensured a covid-safe environment.
Flt Lt Laura Kaye 2337 (Northallerton) Squadron said, “it’s fantastic that the wing were able to organise this so quickly after lockdown
A demonstration of correct CPR technique whilst other members of the Wing staff observe
– its allowed us to begin planning out courses and activities and hit the ground running when it comes to delivering cadet training.”
Added excitement during the weekend came with the discovery of 13 abandoned ducklings. Despite many hours of waiting, searching, and doing all the right things, their mother was not found and the ducklings were safely delivered to a wildlife sanctuary by staff from 740 (Whitby) Squadron.
