 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 8TH MARCH 2021
By SSI Fiona McCallion
8th March saw the celebration of International Women's Day across the world. At Yorkshire (N&W) ACF, the contribution of women to the organisation is recognised as a vital one.
There were celebrations at B Company in particular, as they have a female Admin Officer and female PRO at HQ, together with a significant number of female adult volunteers in leadership roles across the detachments. Four of these volunteers have also taken the first step towards becoming ACF officers, and they are featured in the attached picture.
Major Rory Romani, B Company's Officer Commanding, said, "For all of our female cadets who are considering becoming adult volunteers in the future, you have a great range of role models!"

The Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award
(known as iDEA) is an international, award- winning programme that helps to develop
and demonstrate your digital, enterprise and employability skills for free. It is something that all of our cadets are encouraged to undertake, and we recently celebrated the first two of our cadets to earn the Bronze Award.
Now B Company's Cadet Sgt Will Kelly has gone one step further and earned the Silver Award!
Cadet Sgt Kelly, who parades at B Company's Selby Detachment, is delighted with his latest achievement; and he received the award on 16th February 2021.
He explained, "Your iDEA Silver brings together all the knowledge you have learnt on your Bronze award into three larger segments. You can choose from Citizen, Worker, Maker, Entrepreneur, and Gamer in scenario-based tasks for each category. Once you complete four out of the five categories, you achieve your Silver Award!"
County STEM Officer, 2Lt Scott Baker, was extremely proud of Cadet Sgt Kelly's achievement:
"He has stepped up his digital enterprise training by becoming the first cadet in the county to complete the Silver iDEA Award! This is currently the highest level available to cadets and is a great addition to his CV. A brilliant achievement!"
