have to deal with all sorts of situations, liaise with Social Care, Police, Safeguarding, Health, Housing to name a few. These can bring challenges, but equally to see a family get the support they need and to make progress, is what drives me on, to keep doing what we are doing.
What’s the best thing about being in Thrapston? The town is amazing, they have truly welcomed all of us. We have joined the Charter Fair this year and hope to be more involved in the coming years.
What makes Squirrels different? We try to go above and beyond every day. Not all families and situations fit into boxes. We are not a nursery that say “we can’t” do something, but “how can we work around it” to make it work?
Who makes you laugh? The children, always! Their funny little ways of saying hello, seeing them go from a new starter to a confident child.
Proudest moment? Seeing each child off to Primary School. Watching them go on to their next chapter and part of their journey. We all play a role in that, which I am very proud of.
Dinner out or at home? That depends, my

partner and I love a pub meal in the garden, sun shining. Equally a family meal around the table is perfect, I love to hear about my children’s day.
...and a favourite tipple to go with it? Gin!
You have a day off, what do you do? I love the beach. My partner and my dog often just pack up and go to the coast for brain space and clarity. I have my best thoughts and ideas when walking, and enjoying the outdoors.
Dog, cat or iguana – who’s at home? Fur babies (puppies) definitely.
Any future ambitions? I would love to develop the community side of our business. We offer training and apprenticeships and I would like to link all age groups and get more people to visit the Thrapston nursery location.
Jaffa cake or Hobnob? Both!
Who inspires you? My mum has always been a great inspiration, she still works now, in her 70s. I would love to be as successful, as she is. www.squirrelschildcare.co.uk
