   Progress at Clutton Allotments
I am the past chairman of Clutton Allotment Association, which has been in existence for 18 months. I took on my plot 5 years ago. At that time there were probably only around 8 plotholders.
The site was completely overgrown
in places and not at all attractive to newcomers.
The Parish Council representative arranged the help of community service offenders who, over a 6-month period, made huge improvements. A number of new residents to the village took on plots and provided new impetus.
Now, we have 25 plotholders and a waiting list. The site is transformed
as hopefully the attached pictures show, including the establishment of a community garden with a seat, a picnic bench provided with the funds from the local Rotary Club, fruit trees, wildflowers, bee house etc. with spare produce shared with villagers.
We have formed a great community asset. It shows the power of allotments and how they can benefit everyone in a community, and how associations can really drive things forward with local council financial support.
