Major (Retd) Rosy Hubbard TD Recipient of the QA Association Medal Citation
Rosy Hubbard is nominated for the QARANC Association Medal for her outstanding selfless commitment and dedication to upholding the values of the QARANC Association which she demonstrates time and again in her position as secretary of the QARANC Association Welsh Branch. Rosy approaches this role with unbridled enthusiasm, always giving complete dedication to any task asked of her. She is the glue that holds the branch together.
Rosy relates to branch members with empathy, sympathy and is always willing to go the extra mile for members. Rosy will telephone or make personal visits to those in distress. She ensures that members are ‘not forgotten’ and there are flowers and a visit for those who are unable to leave their home or who are ill or bereaved. This gesture is appreciated as seen by the many ‘Thank you’ cards the committee receives. An example is we have a serving member undergoing medical treatment, whom Rosy sent flowers last month. Her reply ‘Thanks I was really grateful and it warmed my heart to know you were thinking of me’. This epitomises the ethos of the QARANC Association ‘Friendship’ and sums up the pinnacle role that Rosy plays in support of the Branch. At the request of family, she ensures that funerals are
attended and arranges a Corps wreath carrying the Standard when requested. Rosy had a major input into National Corps Day 2016 hosted by the Welsh Branch and worked ceaselessly organising catering, uniform display, food, invites etc. This was a huge undertaking and certainly put us on the map in Wales. In 2018 she was
Major (Retd) Rosy Hubbard
instrumental in hosting our 50th Celebration of the Welsh Branch, another excellent event attended by the General Secretary and Colonel Commandant. Rosy was one of the main instigators in arranging the successful Welsh Branch trip to Mametz. Using her wide range of contacts, she linked up
with the Western Front Association and Royal British Legion for this memorable trip to Mametz on the 100th anniversary of the battle. Whist these three events were a couple of years back, they demonstrate her relentless commitment to our Branch. Since becoming Branch Standard Bearer she has attended many training sessions and is a credit to the Corps; her smart appearance always stands out. Over the Remembrance period, Rosy attends a number of parades including the Welsh Festival of Remembrance.
Rosy ensures that as Chair I am briefed on relevant updates, she attends meetings on my behalf and runs our committee meetings smoothly and efficiently.
Rosy is great example to others and always acts with pride for the Corps with utmost professionalism. Finding members to join the committee is always a challenge and despite us being a lively forward thinking branch, without Rosy, we would struggle to maintain the momentum. She is one of the branch’s unsung heroes and for this reason, she is nominated for the well- deserved QARANC Association Medal.
