Centenary Dinner at
St James’s Palace
The Corps started their celebration of the Centenary year by a grand dinner at St James’s Palace in the company of their Colonel in Chief, HRH The Princess Royal on Tuesday 9 May 2018. The dinner was open to officers and seniors with spouses/ partners. There were 120 Serving, retired, Association members and spouses/ partners who attended the dinner.
The Colonel Commandant, Maj Gen Roly Walker and the Chief Veterinary Officer, Colonel Neil Smith hosted The Princess Royal and amongst the guests were; Professor Stephen May, President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon, Brigadier General Erik Torring, Chief Veterinary Officer US Army, Dr John Fishwick, the President of the British Veterinary Association.
The Colonel in Chief was invited to unveil a bronze bust of herself which was commissioned by the RAVC Council as the Centenary piece for the Corps. This was a most successful evening for those present and it marked a prominent start to the Centenary year celebration.
