planting daffodils in the bank of one of the boundary hedges. The bulbs are supplied by Fentongollan Flower Farm in Cornwall, who also sponsor one of the daffodil classes in our Spring Show.
Our plotholders can also enter
the competitions throughout the year organised by the Society. Plotholders also have the chance to enter their produce in one of the society's four main shows – in the spring, early summer, summer show and autumn show. They can
also enter their plots in the annual all-island garden competition, and the Society plot competition. The Society competition has four classes: best large plot, best small plot, best new plot and best plot with a raised bed system. The plotholder with the highest points from each class is crowned the champion and receives a trophy; the other class winners receive vouchers donated by one of the garden centres on the island.
In September on our anniversary day we have a sunflower growing competition for the tallest plant and widest seed head, plus a produce show. We also try to organise talks at these events from local growers.
