CAN YOU HELP?
2nd Thrapston Scout Group
In April our Cubs did a camp at Overstone Scout Campsite. We were joined by 1st Woodford Cubs and a couple from 1st Raunds. Our Beavers joined us for the day
on the Saturday. They all enjoyed overnight camping with lots of activities such as Archery, Camp fire, Water rockets and a cave bus. The weekend was enjoyed by all.
We have had lots to do on our section evenings at the school with Safety, Digital citizen, and games.
As a group we help in many ways and we currently have two volunteers helping us as
part of thier “Duke of Edinburgh Award”. One is doing her silver & the other Gold. They will join in with all aspects of volunteering with our Beavers & Cubs. We welcome them to the group.
We would like to thank Thrapston Council for awarding us a grant of £1000 to help us purchase some of our camping equipment.
We will also be having a spot at the Charter fair so please come and support us.
Scout Section
So far as a group we have a Beaver section (6 to 8 year) and a Cub section (8 to 10 years), there is another section Scouts (10 to 14 years). At present we don’t currently run this section as we need volunteers to help run it.
It is very rewarding helping the young people to be part of a wider community with games, activities, trips, camping and helping out in the community. To be part of the wider scouting family.
We want to be able to offer scouting to 10- to 14-year-olds but we need your help. We need adult volunteers to help us run this section. It would be at the Primary school on a Wednesday evening and would run from 7.30pm to 8.45pm.
We would like to re-open this section in September but without adult support we wont be able to offer this to children between 10 and 14.
If you are able to help us then please get in touch with us.
We are a growing group that relies on volunteers to help run the sections and we are looking for adults to help in the Beaver and Scout sections. We also need volunteers to go onto our executive committee. We have roles to fit every lifestyle and skillset with all the relevant training provided.
Volunteering at Scouts isn’t just about changing young people’s lives.
It’s about doing something that’s #GoodForYou too.
Volunteering is good for boosting your wellbe- ing, developing CV-friendly skills, making friends and building memories.
We have roles to fit every life-style and skillset with all the relevant training provided. We don’t just need volunteers to work alongside our young people but we also need volunteers be- hind the scenes to help keep our group running!
We hope to hear from you soon!
