WANDERERS
REPORT
17 Wanderers gathered for their annual Salcombe Laidback Weekend from Friday
to Monday October 4–7. They travelled from Hertfordshire, Lancashire, Buckinghamshire, Cumbria, Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Hampshire.
In the week beforehand the Salcombe weather had been remarkably unsettled and unpredictable but Saturday’s tour of the creeks with a lunchtime high water was agreeably achieved in a gentle breeze but which became a grey drizzle by the time we had a picnic lunch beneath the trees on Fisherman’s Beach.
We enjoyed a first class SYC supper served up by Jo and her brigade in the Chart Room on the Saturday evening, having filled

high water timing provided an opportunity to walk round Snapes and to sail up to the Crabshell Inn at Kingsbridge for a particularly tasty lunch before floating back to Batson on the ebbing tide.
Our thanks are due to the Harbour Board staff at Batson for their helpfulness and cooperation.
