Simon Evans
Simon was The Salcombe Lifeboat Operations Manager for the RNLI, giving his time generously to this deserving cause. During his time in charge of our lifeboat station he organised a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in the lifeboat disaster.
Simon & Caroline have been active members of the cruiser section, with their yacht Nita, and frequent visitors to the bar throughout the year.
He will be sorely missed by many SYC members & the lifeboat crew.
Boat Park Steve
Thanks to “Boat Park Steve” for keeping Batson running so smoothly throughout the year. In particular he keeps the busy and congested slipway working. His cheery disposition, firm but fair attitude and passion for encouraging all to embrace our plastic free estuary is certainly appreciated by SYC sailors. Thank you, Steve!

BOATSTORE
The Salcombe Boatstore, based on Island Street, is now under new management. After 25 years at the helm, Ian Stewart
is retiring and has sold his share in the business to ex SYC Commodore Malcolm Squire. Malcolm, along with the existing shareholder Jonathan Britton, are the directors of the business but day to day management has been taken on by Jonathan and Catherine Squire. Ian will continue to be involved in the business by offering the new management his advice and guidance as well as his skills in the workshop.
Jon and Cat are keen to ensure that Salcombe will always have a traditional chandlery to serve the local boating and sailing community. They will continue to offer the same services across all aspects of the business including chandlery, clothing & footwear, boat repairs & maintenance and boat storage. The Canvas Workshop will also continue to offer hand sewn boat covers & cushions, sail
repairs as well as a wide range of bespoke items.
Jon and Cat have some exciting plans for the future and look forward to seeing you in the Boatstore soon!
