WHAT’S ON
In and Around Thrapston
A new project from Thrapston FoodBank will begin during the school Easter holidays, with a view to then running each following school holiday. As additional support to our existing services, we are opening a Community Cafe and Social Supermarket.
Refreshments will be available and open to all as part of our cafe, with an area set up for little ones to play, an arts and crafts area, along with
an area to just sit and chat amongst
friends. No charge will be made for refreshments but a donation pot will
be available. We will also be offering
a Social Supermarket for those who are struggling to afford food. A subscription of £3 per adult and £1 per child will give membership for each visit. Registration details will be required but these can be taken on the day.
Food products can then be selected, following guidelines, along with laundry, toiletry, cleaning and sanitary products, enough to meet your needs. We can also offer advice with budgeting as well as signposting to other agencies for
support with making positive life changes.
We are able to offer this because of the support from the local community, along with local businesses, in particular DSV, Morrisons and Waitrose.
The initial two sessions will run on Thursdays 4th and 11th April at
Thrapston Sports Association clubhouse on Chancery Lane. Feel free to drop in
anytime between 11am and 1pm. For more information please contact us on 07907 343373 or email thrapstonfoodbank@gmail.com
Spring Time Quiz
Volunteer Action is a charity supporting residents of Oundle, Thrapston and local villages who are over the age of 65 years and/ or have disabilities. We provide services to these valuable members of the community, our aim is to maintain independence and improve the quality of their lives.
The community car scheme is run by volunteers and provides a door to door driving service for reaching medical and social trips– in addition to a one to one Befriending scheme that is designed to help reduce loneliness and rural isolation.
We have a Springtime Fundraising Quiz that is available to purchase for £1 per sheet form 1st April and you have until the end of July to return your answers. There are cash prizes to be won, fun to be had in completing the quiz with friends or relatives and you will be raising much needed funds for a local charity!
VA will be at the Thrapston Farmers Market on 6th April with the Quiz sheets and in Oundle Farmers Market on 11th May. You can always pop into the offices at Fletton house in Oundle too – please contact VA’s Manager Rachel Dixon for more information on admin@volunteeractionoundle.org.uk. www.volunteeractionoundle.org.uk/
