Our Annual Plot Competition
On 21st July 2024, Granville Park Allotments welcomed John Irvin, Chairperson of the North West branch of the National Allotment Society, to judge their Annual Plot Competition for 2024. John toured the ground, scoring the plots to select the ‘Best Growing Area’.
Plots with the five highest scores were celebrated. John scored the plots based
on the variety and quality of produce, level of cultivation/maintenance, and features
to promote sustainability and innovation. Additional prizes were awarded for ‘Best Flower border’, ‘Most Improved Plot’ and ‘Best Newcomer.’ Michelle, in the image with John, was awarded a ‘Best Newcomer’ prize for her work both on her plot and
enthusiasm for suppor ting the association. John praised the standard of the plots
and the work of the association in managing the ground. John said: “It is fabulous to see so many plots well cultivated and how the association has worked hard to build the community for a strong and stable future.”
