It’s the little things that count Lockdown love helping us through
It’s the little things that mean the most. A little thought and a little gift can go a long way.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of using the ‘L’ word – lockdown. No doubt about it, it’s tough.
One of the many good things to come out of these tough times though has been the kindness we’re showing each other. Love. Appreciation. Gratitude for what we have. Helping each other. And a promise that, when we can, we’ll give each other the biggest hug!
What’s really kept me going are the little thoughts and gifts from family and friends. Of course, emails and Facebook messages are always appreciated, but there’s been something special about receiving a card or a small gift through the post... and I don’t mean the latest Amazon order.
It’s like we’ve gone ‘old school’ again. Posting something is back in fashion.
I’ve sent cards to friends with a personal message remembering times we’ve spent together and looking forward to when we can do it again; and inexpensive gifts, like a personalised tote bag, with a promise of a day out shopping again.
Just the other day my mum sent me a little engraved token, just to let me know she’s thinking of me, I know others who’ve received an afternoon tea or small toys for their kids. It’s been a privilege for a small

As we come into spring and the weather begins to warm, I’m reminded of a quote by the late Capt. Sir Tom Moore: “We will get through it in the end but it might take time, but at the end of the day we shall all be OK... the sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away.”
So, before you text or email, just think of doing a little extra once in a while. A little card or a gift received in the post will bring a little sunshine to someone you care about. Lynsey Manning
