RAVC Centaur Pin
The RAVC Centaur Pin is available from the RAVC Association Melton Branch at the cost of £5, plus postage and packing.
The pin is a miniature Centaur made of silver, size 1.5cm x 1.5cm (approx). It can be worn as a lapel pin or tie pin and can be worn by both male and female.
Anyone interested is to contact: Mr Norman Morgan either by email or telephone. Cheques are to be made out to ‘Melton Mowbray Branch RAVC Association’.

Knighthood for our Colonel Commandant
Lt Gen Sir James Rupert Everard KCB CBE
We are all very proud on the appointment of Knighthood for our
Colonel Commandant and President of the RAVC Association. Lieutenant General Sir James Everard KCB CBE was appointed
in her Majesty’s New Year Honours List.
We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Sir James
and Lady Caroline Everard.
Lt Gen Sir James Everard became the RAVC Colonel Commandant
in March 2012 and his tenure is due to end in March 2017.
Corps RSM RAVC – WO1 (CRSM) Sue Roberts RAVC
It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of WO1 Sue Roberts as the new RAVC Corps RSM.
CRSM Sue is also the RSM of 1 Military Working Dog Regiment and she has made history by becoming the  rst female Corps RSM. She joined the RAVC as a Rider groom in 1995, then a Rider Instructor in 1997, before becoming a Vet Tech in late 1997. Our warmest congratulations go to CRSM Sue, Steve and their two boys Ethan and Archie.
RSM DAC – WO1 (RSM) Andy Dodds RAVC
Our congratulations also go to WO1 (RSM) Andy Dodds who was
appointed RSM of the Defence Animal Centre at Melton Mowbray. RSM Dodds joined The Green Howards and transferred to the RAVC in 1998 when he trained as a Dog Trainer. His previous appointment was Chief Trainer Defence Animal Centre.
RSM Royal College for Defence Medicine – WO1 Stuart Rowles
Our congratulations go to WO1 Stuart Rowles on his appointment of RSM for the Royal College of Defence Medicine (RCDM) in Birmingham. Stuart Rowles  rst joined the Intelligence Corps as an Intteligence Operator but transferred to the RAVC in February 1992 when he trained as a Dog Handler. His last appointment was the Warrant Of cer of the VSTAT based at the RAVC Headquarters in Sandhurst.
OC UOTC Southampton
We also congratulate Lt Col Caroline Whittle on her recent promotion and appointment as the 2IC of the UOTC in Southampton. Lt Col Whittle will also assume the role of senior RAVC Reservist member of the RAVC Council.
We also congratulate WO1 Gregg Cunningham on his promotion to WO1 and his appointment as Chief Dog Trainer at the DAC.

RAVC Reserves Recruiting Now – Nationally
If you are aged between 17 years 9 months and 49 years 11 months and live anywhere in the UK, you can apply to join the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) Army Reserves. Within the 1st Military Working Dog Regiment we are now actively looking to recruit Reserve Soldiers, Veterinary Technicians and Professionally Quali ed (PQ) Of cers. Civilians and individuals with passed military service are all encouraged to apply. If you are interested in a challenge and would like some adventure, travel overseas and you can commit to at least 27 days training per year in the RAVC Reserves; log on to www.army.mod.uk and follow the links for much more detail. You may wish to consider Regular service if you can commit to a full time career. Both Regular and Reserve service can provide you with recognised quali cations, sporting
opportunities and lifelong skills which will bene t you both in a military or civilian careers. Regular and Reserve service offers good rates of pay. There are great incentives for those wishing to rejoin the Army and a tax free bounty for Reserves who complete the speci ed annual training requirements.
