Great Day out in Oldham for the NWCAA
As the NWCAA Secretary, these are the events that I enjoy; meeting NAS members and listening to their stories. Some stories are good and others are not so good, but they are always interesting. It’s good for
us as a panel to hear that our efforts in supporting north western NAS members is appreciated and we have to thank those NAS members that stopped to chat.
The event raised the ag of the rather
low uptake of NAS membership in Oldham, which has a lot to offer the north west allotment family. Hopefully by talking to those showing an interest in our work, this may change the situation. I do hope so.

As the regional panel for the National Allotment Society in the North West, we are more than happy, if invited, to attend local growing initiatives to promote the National Allotment Society.
Having recently been invited to such an event by Diane Drinkwater, the Secretary
for Cartmel Crescent Allotments in Oldham, we packed up our display boards, roped
in willing volunteers, Colin Pilcher and Don Booth along with Silvia (Don’s wife), and headed to the venue early on the morning
of the 11th February. The event was put together with the support from the local council and showed just how popular allotments and grow your own are in the area. There were workshops on beekeeping, compost making and ower arranging, alongside stalls giving support and advice for the beginner and the expert plot holder.
