NEW ARRIVAL
The Ripon Air Cadets family only ever gets bigger. Two of our adult volunteer staff, Sapper Roy Roe RE and Acting Sergeant Ellen Roe RAFAC are now proud parents to Harvey Roe, born Sunday 15 Sept 24 at 4:22pm, weighing 8lbs.
On our usual parade evening on Tuesday 17 Sept 24, they briefly visited the squadron to introduce little Harvey making it his first parade evening at 2 days old!
We wish the Roe family many happy returns and look forward to seeing baby Harvey more!
ENROLMENTS AND
PROMOTIONS FOR
1324 SQUADRON
On the 27th of June, the latest recruit intake of 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron completed their initial training on the First Class Training Course, graduating in front of proud family, before joining their new team- mates in either Harrier, Buccaneer or Phantom Flights.
Following the graduation ceremony, six cadets were promoted to the rank of cadet corporal, and one cadet corporal promoted to the rank of cadet sergeant. These promotions were not based on the length of time spent with the unit, rather competitive selection of those cadets thought to set the best example to their peers and work well with each other to help improve the squadron and the experience offered to the membership.
CADETS
LAUNCH
SKYWARD
by Corporals Finley Coan and Grace Kenny
On the 8th of June 2024 cadets from 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron
flew skyward at RAF Syerston, some for the first time! Several were clearly nervous, having heard that a winch launch can feel a little bit like a high-speed rollercoaster!
Corporal Finley Coan said: “Once my feelings of anxiousness and anticipation subsided, I launched and was able to get some amazing pictures and videos and I would definitely go again the next chance I get.”
But it wasn’t everyone’s first time, and Corporal Grace Kenny really enjoyed the opportunity of spending a day with cadets from other squadrons. She added: “This was my second time gliding with cadets and I find it gets more exciting each time! It was a windy day with perfect conditions which made for smooth flights. I got to learn about the primary controls and the forces which allow a glider to fly. All in all, it was a very fun day, and I would definitely recommend it to others!”
