THE CADET REVIEW
HITS 20TH YEAR OF
PUBLICATION
As we approach the 20th anniversary of the first issue of the Cadet Review in Spring 2025 can you contribute to an update? Were you featured in one of the first three editions of 2005? If so, please let the Editor know where you are now and what you are doing, and, importantly, what you have been involved with between 2005 and 2025. As an example, please see the story on new Chelsea Pensioner, Gerry Corns, who was a member of the Army Cadet Force.
If your name appears below, the Editor would like to hear from you as he has spotted many personnel from all three Cadet Forces still serving or connected with either the Cadet Force or RFCA where they were in 2005 and some who have “seen the light” and moved to a sister organisation. The following are easily identified and ranks given as of 2005: Flight Lieutenant Tony Staincliffe, Sergeants Sally and Des Green, Lieutenant Fred Owen, Major Trevor

Evans, Alex Summers, Captain Steve Somers, Flight Lieutenant Steve Woods, Warrant Officer Steve and Flight Lieutenant Lynne Rudd, Commodore Paul Sutermeister, Major David Crawford, Major Steve Emerson, Lieutenant Commander Keith Bingham, Wing Commander Steve Wiggins, Flight Lieutenant Sue Balmford (on the end of a parachute too), Brigadier Nigel Wood, Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Render, Squadron Leader Ian Johnson, Lieutenant Janice Spicer, Lance Corporal Emma Asquith, Colonel Sir Robert Balchin and there will be more for sure. It is intended to scan the first three issues and circulate to the readership in order that serving, and retired, members may identify themselves and contribute to future editions. Meanwhile here is the first cover to whet your appetites. Out of interest there did not appear to be any mention of 868 (Mirfield) Squadron in the first editions; how things have changed!
