o, where has the last 12 months gone? It only feels like
yesterday that I left HQ LONDIST and the Regular army as
the SMI LONDIST to have the good fortune to take over
the PT Warrant Oficer (PTWO) post at the Army Training Unit,
London (ATU (L)). The PTWO post is a prestigious RAPTCI post
on an FTRS contract which has given me the opportunity to
continue full time training as a RAPTCI (V) but more importantly
passing on my knowledge and experience to the Reserves and
in particular to TA PTIs. The transition from the regular army
to FTRS was a simple and smooth procedure which involved
a job interview (irst time in 26 years – scary) at HQ LONDIST,
followed by a medical and brieing day at Chilwell.
The role of ATU (L) is to deliver Phase 3 training and Recruit
Selection to the Army reserves. My role is to deliver TA Basic
PTI courses (2 per year), TA Intermediate and Advanced
Modular courses (2 each per year), TA PTI Refresher Training
and Endurance Training Leader courses (8 per year) to the
Army Reserves. On top of this I assist G7 PD HQ LONDIST
in the management of TA PD and sport. Whilst serving as
the SMI LONDIST and now as the PTWO I have noticed a King’s Cross, London
signiicant change for the better in terms of how the TA units
operate in regards to PD. Fitness levels, health and FISS stats Woolwich was held over the period 11–22 November 12 and
have improved recently. The past 6 months has also seen run by ATU (L) with assistance from the Army School of Physical
