Not surprisingly, his talents were quickly identified and he assumed Command of 39F (Barnes) Squadron and quickly transformed the failing Squadron in to a vibrant and successful one. He was quickly promoted to Wing Staff with the respon- sibility for shooting before moving to Yorkshire in 1991 following his marriage, where he was quickly appointed as Officer Commanding 868 (Mirfield) Squadron).
After a short spell as Wing Staff Officer Sports for the newly merged South and West Yorkshire Wing, he returned to the Squadron he loved, Mirfield; the unit he has been with ever since. He has proudly supported all the young people throughout his 45-year adult service with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and has had a number notable achievements in this time.
Leading Cadet
Cameron Haggo
Cameron Haggo is a dedicated, committed young man who is a credit to himself and his parents and to Keighley Sea Cadets. He started at the unit as a quiet and shy individual,

He has attended many community events,

He has also represented the unit at various cadet forums that will shape the future of the Sea Cadets.
Leading Cadet Haggo has additionally spent time away from the unit on offshore voyages on the TS JOHN JERWOOD, and on the smaller yachts, in addition to on board TS ROYALIST; which served
to increase his love of the sea and the Sea Cadets. During his time away and on the offshore vessels it has increased his passion to be able to fulfil his challenge and join the Royal Navy.

She is also, not only a key member of the Squadron Band, but also a regular member of the North Region Band. She enjoys adventurous activities and has participated in camping expeditions, hill walking, rock climbing, caving and scuba diving.
She is a keen sports participant with representa- tive blues for hockey, netball and swimming and has joined the Wing Road Marching team; this season she has also helped coach the Junior Netball team. Her Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Peter Doubell, was also recognised at the same ceremony and added, "In over 50 years involvement with the Air Training Corps, my most rewarding and satisfying time has been in the during my current period as Officer Commanding 868 (Mirfield) Squadron, and so I am delighted that this period of service has been recognised by the presentation of a Lord-Lieuten- ant's Certificate, a singular and treasured honour. My sense of pride was only heightened by the same ceremony appointing a cadet from the Squadron,
FS Rebecca Jagger, as Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet - making the event a quite unique occasion. Although the formal ceremony was constrained to a virtual event, it was a happy co-incidence for me that as I took FS Jagger to the recording of her video input
I was able to meet the Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ed Anderson, as his recording session immediately followed; he shared his congratulations with both of us, and we were able to get a picture of him and Rebecca with her certificate - suitably socially distanced."
