YORKSHIRE CADET TRUST GRANT HELPS SCARBOROUGH SEA CADETS HIT THE WATER IN STYLE
During the latter part of 2019 the Yorkshire
Cadet Trust, the charity for all cadets across the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA)
for Yorkshire and The Humber, awarded a grant to Scarborough Sea Cadets for a substantial amount of boating equipment.
Much of this was still on order when the COVID 19 lockdown started and some of the kit took a while to reach the unit, where it was eagerly awaiting by the Executive Officer, Lieutenant Gareth Davies, and his team of water activity trainers, and importantly, the cadets who would put it all to good use.
Seen in the pictures are some of the cadets on and off the water demonstrating the Wetsuits, Cags, Helmets and Windsurfing Sails purchased with the grant. As activities started to get under way in the late summer the equipment has already been used to great effect allowing cadets who don’t have them personally to take part.
Trustees were delighted to hear that the equipment has been put into use and are looking forward to a visit to see the cadets taking part in
Trustees were delighted to hear that the equipment has been put into use and are looking forward to a visit
their sailing activities when appropriate to do so. The Yorkshire Cadet Trust is a registered charity
established to provide support for cadets within Yorkshire and The Humber.
Without the Trust, many cadets could never experience the enjoyment and satisfaction that taking part in these pursuits bring. The Trust’s
goal is to ensure that each and every cadet has the chance to participate in all the opportunities that are made available through membership of the
Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), Army Cadet Force (ACF), RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) or Combined Cadet Force (CCF). The Trustees are particularly keen to support those cadets that, for whatever reason, come from
a deprived or less fortunate background than their peers.
The Trustees who donate time and money are rewarded by witnessing the personal development of the individual cadets, in addition to the delight of parents who see their children developing into respected adults within their communities.
